A fire caused heavy damage to a three-story apartment building in Pittsburgh’s Carrick neighborhood on Monday night.
City firefighters responding to the two-alarm structure fire in the 200 block of Spencer Avenue at around 7:45 p.m. encountered flames shooting from the front of the building and heavy smoke inside the structure, according to emergency dispatchers.
Firefighters determined that the building was unoccupied, officials said.
The blaze quickly grew to three alarms as firefighters worked to prevent it from spreading to adjacent buildings, according to a Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswomen.
The fire was brought under control by 8:15 p.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
